As the new Stage 6 Leader at Charlton, I have had the opportunity to participate in the Middle Leaders Professional Development Program through CSA. In this space, I have spent time researching the importance of recognising students for their achievements and abilities through awards.
Whether it be in academics, creative arts or sports, recognising a student for their unique gifting plays a key role in boosting their confidence, driving motivation and encouraging the diverse talents they have. At Charlton, we believe through Christian education we can grow the God-given potential of each student and equip them for life. Part of this involves recognising our students for the gifts and talents they have that make them unique.
James 1:17 says ‘Every good and perfect gift is from above’. Whether your child is an academic, a future sport star, an artist or musician, we believe that their gifts are from God, and it is our responsibility and privilege to encourage and recognise them for that. Not only do we see firsthand how this can boost motivation, but it also helps to foster a positive school community. One where assemblies are moments of celebration and a chance for parents and teachers to come together to share in the excitement of achievement.
Whatever their gifting, it is truly an honour to be a part of recognising your child for the unique gifts that God has blessed them with and to see the positive impact this has on their own confidence and the wider school community.
