Hi Charlton community! What a year it has been so far. I have been so excited to be able to get back to some sort of normalcy this year, still taking safety measures to restrict the movement of COVID.
I have only been at Charlton just under a year. But I would love to share some highlights with you in my time at the school.
I have been blown away by our Chapel services this year. Every sub-school has a Chapel service every fortnight on a Thursday for one period. These have gone to a new level this year. To seeing young people, learn new skills, to the incredible band that brings people into the presence of Jesus, to seeing the teachers support the program and students in having the best time possible. This is such a fulfilling moment for the other Chaplain Sam and me.
The community at Charlton is second to none. From teachers and parents all the way down to the students. The way people embrace the culture at this school amazes me. The way the staff support the students, the parents support the school, and the students support each other is so encouraging. For me this has been such an eye opener coming from working in a public school. Seeing such a difference in the culture of both education and support has been such a highlight for me.
And of course, for all the Junior School students we have opened the new Adventure Playground! The grand opening of this was such a fun experience, and again reinforces that the community of Charlton is incredible. Seeing so many parents show up was encouraging and seeing the laughing and smiling faces on the students is always heartwarming to see.
It has been a great year so far, and I am looking forward to the rest of it. More incredible Chapel services, the community grower stronger in culture and number, and to see the students thrive in their environment. Thanks for doing the journey with us!
Praying for you always
Mr Jacob Dwyer / Chaplain
